What you will make
A transparent tenant kWh and peso-share estimate from the readings and bill totals you typed, with common charges kept separate.
What you need
Master bill total, master billed kWh, previous and current submeter readings, and any agreed shared-charge method — or mark it To confirm.
Before you start
This is not the appliance wattage estimator. Use the actual master bill figures. Do not invent a Meralco or coop tariff.
What to do
- Copy the master billed kWh and the bill total from the same billing period.
- Record the previous and current submeter readings for that same period.
- Write the agreed common/shared/fixed method, or leave it as To confirm.
- Paste the prompt, then recheck the arithmetic against the bill and your agreement before anyone is billed.
Try this prompt
If current reading is lower than previous, or master kWh is zero, the AI must flag the inconsistency instead of inventing a fix.
Help me estimate one tenant’s electricity share from a submeter using only the bill and readings I provide. Show the calculation so another person can independently recheck it.
INPUT
Master bill period: [START DATE — END DATE / TO CONFIRM]
Master bill total: ₱[AMOUNT]
Master billed usage: [KWH] kWh
Previous submeter reading: [KWH] on [DATE / TO CONFIRM]
Current submeter reading: [KWH] on [DATE / TO CONFIRM]
Agreed common/shared/fixed-charge method: [EXACT METHOD / TO CONFIRM]
Known exclusions, credits, arrears or adjustments in the master bill: [DETAILS / NONE / TO CONFIRM]
VALIDATE FIRST
- Check that supplied numbers are usable and non-negative where appropriate.
- Current reading should normally be at least the previous reading. If not, stop and flag a possible reading/reset/replacement issue.
- Master billed kWh must be greater than zero before dividing.
- Flag mismatched billing and meter-reading periods.
- Do not invent a tariff, utility rule, landlord markup, shared-charge formula, or agreement.
CALCULATE
1. Tenant usage = current reading − previous reading.
2. Simple effective average cost/kWh = master bill total ÷ master billed kWh.
3. Simple estimated tenant energy share = tenant usage × effective average cost/kWh.
4. Keep common/shared/fixed charges separate. Apply them only when I supplied an explicit agreed method.
5. Show every formula, substituted value, result, unit, and rounding step.
OUTPUT
- Input-validation result.
- Calculation table.
- Estimated share labelled “Transparent estimate — not an official utility calculation.”
- Separate adjustments/shared-charge section.
- Assumptions and “To confirm” items.
- Check-before-billing list.
Recompute the total once. If the data is inconsistent or insufficient, do not force a bill amount; explain exactly what must be corrected or confirmed.See a sample result
Illustrative example. Your answer may differ.
Input (illustrative): Master bill ₱6,000 for 500 kWh. Previous reading 1,240. Current reading 1,340. Common charges: To confirm. Example result: Tenant used 100 kWh. Simple average is ₱12 per kWh. Estimated share is ₱1,200. Common/shared charges remain To confirm.
Before you use it: Confirm the billing periods match, the readings are correct, and the shared-charge method is the one you actually agreed. AI cannot decide an enforceable landlord rule.
Try this follow-up
Recalculate with the corrected readings or bill totals I supply next. Keep common charges separate.
If the answer is not right
If the draft invents a shared-area fee or a utility tariff I did not give, delete it and mark that line To confirm.
Philippine notes
- Distinct from the appliance electricity-cost guide, which estimates from wattage. This guide reconciles a tenant share against a real master bill.
- If the current reading is below the previous reading, treat it as an inconsistency to resolve offline.
