What police warned about
On 14 August 2026, UNTV reported that the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group warned the public about a fund-recovery scam using AI-generated videos and photos. PNP-ACG Director Police Maj. Gen. Wilson Asueta said scammers post content depicting PNP-ACG and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center.
Callers then pose as police, lawyers or financial experts and discuss how to recover money already lost. Asueta said they ask for an initial payment, give an update, demand more fees, then disappear or deactivate the Facebook page.
The one rule that matters
PNP-ACG said the agency has never been affiliated with any fund-recovery service. The scheme targets people who already fell for an earlier scam.

What to do if you see the offer
- Do not pay anyone who offers to recover scam losses for a fee.
- Do not trust an AI video or photo that looks like ACG or CICC operational work.
- Verify any hotline or page from an official ACG or CICC site, not from the post that contacted you.
- Report the account to the nearest police station or ACG office, and stop the conversation.
