Talk to AI like a phone call
Section titled “Talk to AI like a phone call”You do not always have to type on a keyboard. If you have the official ChatGPT app on an Android phone or iPhone, you can tap the voice button and speak naturally. You can speak in English, Tagalog, or Taglish.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- The official ChatGPT app installed from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- A free OpenAI account.
- A quiet spot or headphones with a microphone.
Try this
Section titled “Try this”- Open the ChatGPT app on your mobile phone.
- Look at the message bar at the bottom and tap the headphone icon (Voice mode) or the microphone icon (Dictation).
- Wait for the circle on screen to show that it is listening.
- Speak naturally. For example:
"Hi! I'm planning my tasks for today while I prepare breakfast. Can I tell you what I need to do, and you help me put them in order?"- Listen to the spoken reply. You can interrupt at any time just by speaking again.
- When you are done, tap the red X button to return to the text chat. A full transcript of your conversation will be saved in your chat history so you can copy the list.
Great ways to use voice mode
Section titled “Great ways to use voice mode”- Practicing a job interview: Say, “Act as a friendly job interviewer for a customer service role. Ask me one question at a time and give me gentle feedback on my answer.”
- Practicing spoken English: Say, “Let’s have a casual conversation in English. If I make a grammar mistake, tell me nicely and suggest a natural phrase.”
- Hands-free brainstorming: Talk through thoughts while walking, commuting, or doing house chores without having to look at your screen.
If it mishears a Filipino word
Section titled “If it mishears a Filipino word”ChatGPT understands conversational Taglish well, but local slang or unusual place names might be misheard:
- Speak slightly slower and use familiar English or Tagalog words.
- If it mishears a specific name, spell it out or switch to the text keyboard for that word.
Before you rely on it
Section titled “Before you rely on it”- Be mindful of your surroundings. Do not speak private addresses, banking numbers, or workplace secrets aloud where others can hear.
- Never say passwords, PINs, or one-time codes.
- Check the written transcript in your chat history before acting on important numbers or dates.
